The call for Elections is now open. This year the PMI OVOC Board of Directors is looking for 7 people who are willing to join the PMI OVOC Board of Directors. Five of the positions that we are looking will be replacements for existing board positions, and the remaining two positions are new ones which the board has decided to add. If you are interested in running for the PMI OVOC Board of Directors, please contact our Elections Chair, Terry Koech via e-mail at email@example.com.
There will be a meet & greet for those who are interested in running for the board during the second last week of February — specific details of date, time and location will come out within the next two weeks.
Nominations will close on 22 February 2019 with the elections starting at the beginning of March.
I encourage all chapter members who are interested in how the chapter is run to consider joining the board and running for a position. I am always available to answer questions about the election or board responsibilities as well.
President — PMI OVOC
OVOC Programs is planning for a set of exciting and informative lunches, breakfasts and Saturday seminars for the 2019 season.
For breakfast and lunch sessions: We are looking for people willing to speak for 45 minutes about a special project they have worked on or an area of interest that impacts our industry. No experience is required just a willingness to share your expertise with your colleagues. Or do you have a recommendation on a topic or speaker that you would be interested in hearing about? Send your recommendations or expression of interest to Pete to discuss further.
For Saturday workshops: We are looking for experienced speakers or leaders to do a 2 or 4 hour talk and interactive workshop to help with our membership's skills development. This could in the areas of Risk, Scope or Stakeholder Management, Costing or Scheduling, Lean, Agile, presentation skills, other communication and soft skills that can make Project Leaders more effective at their jobs. Or do you have any area of interest that you would like to see covered?
Send an email of your interest or ideas to Pete @ Programs@pmiovoc.org.

I just lost a huge client because one of my project managers had a meltdown in a status update meeting. He blamed the client’s staff for all the challenges on the project. The meeting culminated with the project manager being escorted out. The client then called and fired us. This was a half a million-dollar project! If this happens again, I won’t have a business. What is the best way to handle a client crisis like this? READ MORE
