The OVOC 2017 Elections Committee thanks all the candidates for participating in this year's election process. The quality of potential members willing to stand for election shows how strong and vibrant this chapter is. A special thank you to the general membership — the voter turnout was strong, yet another indicator of the OVOC's strength and commitment.
Please congratulate and welcome new and returning members to the 2017 OVOC Board of Directors. The winners (in alphabetical order) are: Yvan Bastien; Nadine Fortin; Aline Timoteo. Note that the current board is considering adding a 4th and 5th candidate, to support a decision on the business organizational structure.
The OVOC has entered into an exciting pilot program to have our Ottawa-based Saturday April 29th Seminar broadcasted to Kingston for a fully interactive 2-location event fully supported with professional Audio-Visual set-up to ensure a quality experience for both locations!
About the April 29th Saturday Seminar... Florence Nightingale is considered the founder of modern nursing and was the first person to define planned consequences from activity as the basis for action when she introduced evidence-based outcome indicators to nursing and healthcare. Nightingale's approach was later applied to outcomes-based education and in programme management with the introduction of "logic models."
Likewise, our two presenters, Larry Cooper and Larry Sullivan, will lead their interactive session "Outcomes-Focused Agility — Story Mapping for Strategic Intent," and guide you towards identifying the goals and objectives (the why) for a real world scenario, how to use a simple canvas and mapping technique to figure out what needs to be done and in what order, and how to adapt what gets done next, based on what you have learned so far. This seminar will help you gain better insights into how value gets defined at an enterprise level, and provide a line-of-sight from strategic goals and objectives, down to the actual products to be built using Scrum and other frameworks/ practices. 4 PDUs.
