Established in 1969 and headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania USA, the Project Management Institute (PMI) is the world’s leading not-for-profit project management professional association, with over 220,000 members in over 120 countries world-wide.
Founded in 1985, PMI OVOC represents the Ottawa Valley and Outaouais Region with over 2100 members as of 2014.
In 2001 the PMI Board of Directors initiated strategic planning activities and from 2002 to 2004 developed and adopted a strategic framework. This is important in order to achieve PMI’s long-term vision for the future.
Aligned with the Project Management Institute (PMI), the PMI OVOC has embraced a process which led to the completion of a long-range strategic plan for the Chapter. The process facilitated (a) PMI OVOC’s identification of the future needs of members and customers, and (b) PMI OVOC’s options for satisfying those needs.
PMI OVOC Core Purpose (in alignment with PMI):
To advance the practice, science and profession of project management throughout the Ottawa Valley and Outaouais region in a conscious and proactive manner by engaging all existing and potential members, relevant professional communities, and businesses and by providing current information, resources, and activities.
PMI OVOC Mission
To build professionalism and awareness in project management as well as portfolio, program management, business analysis, risk management and scheduling.
PMI OVOC Vision
To provide project management practitioners opportunities for interaction with their peers through networking, meetings, education, partnerships, and training opportunities that support certification efforts and professional development.
