May 2017 Lunch Event

Implementing a Quality Solution within a provincial Health Care system

Join Joseph Kaminski as he brings us behind the scenes of the heavily regulated provincial health care industry as he details his experiences at bringing a new product to the marketplace.

Joseph will describe the new Roche Accu-Check Inform II blood glucose meter at a very high-level (no advanced medical technical knowledge or experience required to follow this seminar), and will describe the product’s function, patient and hospital/clinical benefits, as well as how it contributed to advancements in the health care community.

Listen as Joseph describes the steps to lead and drive the installation of Roche’s Accu-Check Inform II system point-of-care blood glucose meters throughout twelve Health Regions in Saskatchewan, and subsequently into Western Ontario.   The scope of work included installation of new equipment, quality validation (components and end-to-end service), centralized reporting, training, and decommissioning of former equipment.

Managing Program Stakeholders was an enormous part of the project as Joseph will detail the associated challenges within the four distinct groups:  Roche (the client and a supplier), the Crown Corporation representing the Ministry of Health (the sponsor), the Health Regions (end users), WeCare (a supplier), and IBM (a supplier).

Joseph will bring his expertise and strong communication style to make this project accessible to us lay-people so we can better understand the necessary high rigors, processes and demands on this life-and-death industry.
