Topic #1: Agile Project Managment
Agile is sweeping through our public and private sectors.  What does it mean and how is PMI positioning itself to support this growing trend? As a project manager, how do you position yourself in a methodology that often does not define your role?

Presenter 1: Yvan Bastien, PMI OVOC Partnerships Director
Yvan has over has over 25yrs of business experience in the fields of engineering, finance, business skills training and business development.  He currently works as an instructor and consultant with training organizations such as Global Knowledge - teaching students in a variety of business and leadership skills. Yvan obtained his P. Eng in 1985 and PMP in 2003. His professional interests include volunteering on the Board of Directors with the local Ottawa Chapter of the Project Management Institute. 

Topic #2: Success Feels Like Something
Our presenter, Jon Lenton will talk about what it's like to be a new Project Manager and a new employee, and what it's like to shift careers after several decades.  He will discuss what success looks like to him, from leadership perspective, self-leadership, leadership as a Project Manager, and Mentorship.

Presenter 2: Jon Lenton, P.Eng, GB, PMP
Jon Lenton, a Professional Engineer and PMP, is currently working at Empire Life as a Risk Management Consultant.   He has worked in the IT field for over 31 years, as a Project Manager, Operations Manager and as an Engineer.

Topic #3: Agile, a Practical Perspective
Our Presenter, Ashraf Shalaby, will talk about how project managers can practically adopt the “Agile/SCRUM” methodology in managing today’s large and complex IT and business projects. Ashraf will cover some best practices and tools that are used to effectively leverage the “Agile/SCRUM” approach and to deliver value to the business.

Presenter 3: Ashraf Shalabv, MSc, PMP, ITIL, ALMI, ACS
Ashraf is a seasoned senior Project Manager who has more than 11 years of extensive Project Management experience working in health care, retail, and financial industries in various countries. Ashraf is currently working at Empire Life in Kingston, ON since 2010 and has managed multiple projects for insurance, investment and Group. Ashraf holds a Master degree in information systems and published two papers about the best use of data mining techniques to extract association rules in data-warehouses. Ashraf has been teaching Project Management courses for more than 7 years and helped many project managers to be "PMP" certified.
