Unleashing the Leader within the Project Manager

People issues are one of the causes of why projects fail, which is often attributed to the lack of project management leadership. “Unleashing the Leader Within the Project Manager” examines leadership within the context of project management. The presentation begins with a look at what leadership is and is not, and focuses on the unique elements of project management leadership. It also identifies a common set of leadership pitfalls, and how to recognize and avoid them.  Finally, this presentation provides strategies that can help you unleash the leader.

Some things you can learn from her presentation:

o   Leadership has nothing to do with personal attributes.

o   Common leadership mistakes made by the project manager, and identifying the symptoms of poor leadership.

      o   Leadership strategies that are critically important to the project manager.

Presenter:     Su Soloway

Su Soloway is a Project Executive with over 15 years of experience helping clients in the public and private sectors to develop strategies and roadmaps, and to deliver strategic business transformation initiatives. Her focus is ensuring that   organizations manage business change through the effective use of people, process, data and technology. Portfolio Management, PMO, and Program and Project Management are the cornerstones of her practice. She participates in the development and implementation of project management best practices and advises clients on project approach and methodology.

Su has held senior-level positions with several prominent Canadian organizations, including Director, Strategic Planning at the Canadian Medical Association; Senior Director at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Toronto; and Manager, Technology Consulting at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Su is a current member of the PMI OVOC Board of Directors. Passionate about project management leadership and active in the PM community, Su has organized PM Leadership forums, and regularly coaches and provides mentoring to help others grow and expand.
