Topic: Best Practices from Management Consultancy and how these can help Project Managers

This session will provide you with useful lessons learned that Peter has acquired from leading management consultancy programs, working on the new ISO management consultancy standard (ISO 20700), and teaching the Canadian CMC Essentials of Management Consulting program.  This presentation will focus on the role of the trusted advisor and the associated responsibilities, and provide a consultant’s perspective on dealing with sponsors, the full “cradle to cradle” asset lifecycle, and the full project business case lifecycle through to benefits realization.  This will provide a great introduction to the new PMBOK 6 introduction of benefits.  The objective is to provide insight into how the profession of management consultancy can help project leaders provide more value and benefits to their sponsors.

Presenter:   Peter Milsom

Peter is an advocate for sensible, sustainable change delivery practice adoption.  Peter spent his first fifteen years as a project, programme and portfolio manager and the last fifteen consulting with organizations to help them manage change delivery better working with governments and Fortune 100 companies.  Peter does this by helping organizations understand the breadth and depth of sustainability and provides guidance on prioritizing where to focus, from a project perspective. As well, Peter helps organizations assess where they are and where they want to be and provides advisory services for how to get there.  As an entrepreneurial methodologist Peter has taken courses, completed examinations and undergone extensive evaluations to earn over 44 designations focused on sustainability, portfolio, programme, risk, project, benefits and value, business cases, and business architecture.
