Ethical Trends & Challenges in Projects
This session will raise awareness of global trends and challenges that may influence projects; alert practitioners to ethical dilemmas that may occur throughout the project life cycle, whether intentional or by accident; and foster an appreciation of the relationship between the law and ethics and show how they are both similar and different.
Presenter: Joe Garritano, PMP
Joe Garritano joined Edward Jones in June 2015 as a senior project team leader responsible for a team of project managers that supports the products area of the Client Strategies Group. Since May 2018, he has been a senior
project leader in the Human Resources Project Management Office leading projects and programs to achieve business results for the division. Prior to joining Edward Jones, he was the operations business relationship manager in the Advisory, IRA, and Annuities Operations Department of Wells Fargo Advisors. Mr Garritano began his career in 1998 at Prudential Securities in New York City. He held various analyst, project management, and leadership roles with Prudential, Wachovia Securities, and Wells Fargo Advisors over those 17 years. He earned a master's degree in information systems and a bachelor's degree in management information systems and criminal justice from Pace University, NY. He is also a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification holder since 2005, a PROSCI certified Change Management Practitioner and holds the FINRA Series 7, 66, and 99 securities registrations. Mr Garritano is also a faculty member at Saint Louis University as an adjunct professor in project management. He has taught "Introduction to Project Management," "Leadership Ethics in Project Management," and "Project Selection and Scope" courses. As of January 2015, Mr Garritano was appointed as a city council member with the city of Wildwood, MO, and was elected to the same position in 2015 and then re-elected in 2017. In August 2018, he was selected by the city council to serve as the city's mayor pro-tem. In February 2019, he was elected to serve on the board of directors for the Missouri Municipal League.
