Topic: The Importance of Contract Management in Project Procurement: From the Delivery Methodology Choice to the Closeout of a Project
Once a contract has been finalized and awarded, many parties fail to comply with their contractual obligations, resulting in broken relationships, litigations and other complications to be managed by project managers which could endanger its success.
Nowadays, due to the increase of the number of projects as well as their complexity, claims have become a common occurrence in projects. Arisen either from an owner or a contractor for many reasons such as delays, disruption, loss of productivity, contractual breach, accelerations, unforeseen site conditions, change in scope or in the design, variations within the contract or liquidated damages wrongly exercised... claims may lead to huge damages on the parties involved. Therefore, they must be evaluated quickly and managed efficiently to attenuate their impacts on projects, as they can run into significant amount of money and eventually be brought to the court of justice if the negotiations fail.
Claims could be complicated and very costly to evaluate. They generally require a deep analysis to be performed by project managers or consultants who possess a good understanding in construction, scheduling, estimating, change management, risk management and especially contract management.
Join us on January 25th to learn more about the importance of contract management within projects.
We will go through the following content:
- Project Management Plan
- Project Delivery Methodology (review of the type of contracts and difference between them. Focus on CCDC used in private sectors and Federal Government contracts. Parallel will be made with other existing contracts)
- Procurement Management (review of the different procurement method such as RFP or RFT. What is the prequalification? How to draft and write an RFP…)
- Contract Management (schedule management and scheduling principles, risks management, change management and impacts analysis, monitoring of project and project control tools implementation as well as project documentation management)
- Claim analysis and dispute resolution (explanation on the type of delays (excusable and non-excusable), methods of delay analysis, concurrent delays, EOT (extension of time) and compensations, concept of disruption including the loss of productivity).

We will also take the opportunity of performing interactive sessions during the seminar.
Presenter: Caroline Delisle
Caroline has 23 years of diversified experience in engineering including design, testing, sales, client support, and project management. Caroline has developed significant knowledge and experience on large-scale design and construction new build projects through the work she delivered for the University of Ottawa and Ingenium (formerly Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation).
Presenter: Christophe Fevre
Christophe is a project manager with 19 years of experience developed in civil engineering industry, project management as well as client support working for both public and private sectors in Canada (Nunavut and Quebec), in France and internationally. He honed his knowledge and sharpened his skills on diversified construction projects, such as municipal and infrastructure projects or the nuclear fusion research and engineering megaprojet ITER for almost 5 years as well.

You may request to cancel your registration for a refund minus a $20 administration fee, up to 8 days before the date and time of the event.
